Easy and Affordable!

Who doesn't love a good recipe?  Especially when it is easy and affordable?  Make this buttery mashed potato recipe in less than 30 minutes and pair it with just about anything.  For country-style mashed potatoes follow this recipe and cook your potatoes with some if not all of the skin.

Remember taste as you go and make it your own!

Quick Tips:

  • In this recipe, I used regular butter but often-times I replace standard butter with Smart Balance.  Smart balance is a healthier option to butter and it tastes just as good.
  • If you are using salted butter, cut back on the amount of salt you put in the water and in the actual potatoes themselves.
  • When making mashed potatoes, you never want to over whip or mix the potatoes.  This will cause your potatoes to become glutinous (gluey/sticky).
  • Adding your potatoes room temp water and bringing your potatoes up to temp with the water will allow for even cooking.  When cutting your potatoes you can avoid uneven cooking, but if you are cooking your potatoes whole, you may want to start them in cold or room temp water rather than boiling water.
