Healthy Toddler School Lunch Ideas

Packing a toddler’s lunch is a journey.  Some days they eat everything.  Other days the lunchbox comes home untouched.  So I try to keep things balanced, simple, and toddler-approved.  These are the meals my daughter actually eats, week by week.

My little one gets her food heated at school, which helps a lot.  I used to send food warm, but it never stayed hot.  If you have tips, drop them below.

Week 1: Turkey Meatballs

I hide veggies anywhere I can.  These veggie-packed turkey meatballs worked well.  I added fruit, a small treat, and her juice box. Click here to see YouTube video.

Week 3: Leftovers

Leftovers saved me.  She had pasta, sautéed spinach, fruit, and mini muffins loaded with veggies.  I made these muffins during nap time, and they were a hit for a day.
  • Pasta  (she love's! Most times I try to do veggie or whole wheat pasta, I'm a low key health nut)
  • Sautéed Spinach  (was loaded with garlic and butter so she loved it!)
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Mini Muffins (I made these and suck a bunch of veggies in them. topped it with some chocolate frosting and sprinkles,  boom she loved it! For a day! lol)
  • Immunity support gummy
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water

Week 4: Costco Chicken

I saw an IG post bashing these rotisserie chickens.  From the way they are prepared to the way they sit under the heat warmer in the plastic. CRUSHING to say the least cause I live by these chickens.  They are affordable, flavorful & a huge time savor.  Comment your thought below on store purchased rotisserie chickens.  Let's talk about it, seriously!
  • Chicken Breast
  • Sautéed Spinach  (one of the only veggies she eats these days)
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Veggie Straws (most of these brands aren't the best, and don't contain many veggies.  TBH it's really hard to snack healthily, I'll save that topic for another blog post)
  • Immunity support gummy
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water

Week 5: Mini Turkey Bites

This mini veggie packed turkey patties again cause she loves them!  This is my toddlers first year in school and she just keeps getting sick.  On top of her being picky and not eating that many veggies, idk what to do.  I'm doing my best! Click here to see YouTube video.

Week 6: Salmon

My toddler will buss down some fish and beef.  Today she had salmon.
  • Salmon
  • Corn
  • Banana
  • Made Good Granola (I love this brand, even the name makes me feel good about it)
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water (I love this brand cause it's mostly water.  When you think of it, your paying a premium for water, haha, but I'd rather that than the super sweet 100% juices)

Week 7: Tuna

It's week 7 and I'm getting the hang of this.  It dawned on me that I have the option to prepare cold foods!  Hello!  Today she had Tuna fish.
  • Tuna Salad w/ sliced sourdough (figured she'd be more likely to eat it this way than a sandwich, I was wrong!  My toddler barely ate.)
  • Steamed Broccoli
  • Apple Sauce (I absolutely love these reusable pouches)
  • Annies Cheese Crackers (another brand I trust)
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water (I love this brand cause it's mostly water.  When you think of it, your paying a premium for water, haha, but I'd rather that than the super sweet 100% juices)

Week 8: Hot Dog

I'm still trying to get creative, figuring out what she will actually eat vs not.  The last thing I want is for my toddler to not get enough energy and vitamins cause she's not eating her food.  It's a toss up sometimes, these days she has a lot of favorites and a lot of No Go's.
  • Hot Dog in a bun (I sliced it down the middle to lessen the chocking hazard)
  • Roasted beats (she loves)
  • Grapes (I sliced it down the middle to lessen the chocking hazard)
  • Annies Cheese Crackers (another brand I trust)
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water (I love this brand cause it's mostly water.  When you think of it, your paying a premium for water, haha, but I'd rather that than the super sweet 100% juices)

Week 10: White Castle

The first time my toddler ate an entire kids meal burger to herself, I was shook.  Couldn't believe that she actually finished the whole thing.  She's getting older on my *getting emotional*
  • White Castle Cheese Burger (gotta request your buns steamed, hubby put me on)
  • Grapes (sliced of course)
  • Made Good Cookies (another brand I trust)
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water (I love this brand cause it's mostly water.  When you think of it, your paying a premium for water, haha, but I'd rather that than the super sweet 100% juices)

Week 9: Cold Cuts

Another week of fresh ideas, left overs and cold lunches. Today's choice - Ham & Cheese Sandwich
  • Ham & Cheese on Sourdough (I've official switched from regular wheat bread to sourdough because of health benefits - even better if you can get it from a local bakery where the ingredients will be simpler)
  • Blackberries
  • Corn Puffs (popcorn for toddlers)
  • Grapes (I sliced it down the middle to lessen the chocking hazard)
  • Honest Kids Juice box and water (I love this brand cause it's mostly water.  When you think of it, your paying a premium for water, haha, but I'd rather that than the super sweet 100% juices)

Toddler Lunch Ideas Week 1-10

We made it!  I made it!  10 weeks. There are 365 days in the year, not sure how many of those days are school calendar days but you do the math.  I went from preparing my toddlers school lunches early morning to getting them ready the night before.  Once less thing to do made my life a whole lot easier. I hope these meal ideas helped you in some way!  My daughter is now in a school where lunch is provided.  Soon my son will need packed school lunches so I will deficiently revisit this list for inpersation and add more as well!

Happy Cooking!
